Last 18th December 2013, INTRAS organized a local event to inform about the HORGANIC project in the village of Toro (Zamora), where INTRAS runs a day-centre and a residential home for people with severe and prolonged mental illness. Around 50 people attended this event and we saw that there is a lot of interest in this initiative!!! We talked about the use of the experiential learning methodology to improve the learning process and the social skills of the people with mental health problems. This experiential learning methodology is based on theatre, socio-drama and psychodrama techniques and it has been created jointly with the gardening curriculum. During the event we introduced the pilot experience that is going to be developed in INTRAS’ centre and some of the future trainees shared their aims about this training course.
We, and the rest of HORGANIC partners, will keep on organizing these kinds of events and also attending to other conferences to promote this initiative and inform as much people as possible about the benefits of adapted training to adults with mental health problems. Let’s keep on learning during all of our life!
