Learning is a lifelong process. It enriches us, and allows us growing. Learning is cultivating our inner garden. But lifelong learning opportunities are still difficult to find, even more for adults with mental illness.
HORGANIC project is a lifelong learning project at European scale. It improves the lives of adults with mental disorders through learning gardening and horticulture.
Gardening and activities related to plants and nature are especially beneficial for people with physical and mental disabilities. Therefore, HORGANIC aims to improve the quality of life of people with mental disorders by learning how to take care of a garden (ornamental or vegetable). The final aim of this project is to increase the possibilities to obtain a job in this promising sector and thus promote integration into society. HORGANIC also wants to encourage a healthy life in harmony with nature and contribute to a better future for the whole society by contribute to the social cohesion.
